Everyone knows I love family milestone sessions, and first birthdays are a biggie! I met the Eskew family earlier this year during a Spring Family Session, and was excited to be invited to their home for a First Birthday Portrait and Cake Smash session. Creating portraits at your own home makes them even more meaningful- and we get to capture a little bit of adorable bath time clean-up!
We started out in the yard, with Baby Turner seated on a family heirloom- a miniature chair from his grandfather, that fit him perfectly.
Then, we switched it up with a blanket and a favorite lovey. Authentic giggles, galore!
A quick outfit change, and we brought the cake out. It’s anyone’s guess, how a baby will react to his first cake.
Fortunately, Baby Turner LOVED his!
Just when we were finishing up with the cake, a summer storm rolled in. We were able to duck inside quickly and clean up.
Real-life is my favorite thing to capture for families. As a mother, I cherish the memory of those everyday tasks and the little details that we sometimes forget once that stage in life is outgrown. Being able to see yourself caring for your babies reminds you of how beautiful real life is. I was so glad we got to capture some authentic bathtime moments, and wish this happy little fellow and his family a VERY Happy Birthday!!

This is so adorable! His facial expressions made my day. I love that you included photos of bath time afterward, it gave some variety to the shoot and allowed for that adorable last photo- definitely my fav!
