What makes for an awesome Engagement Session?
Here are my Top 3 Engagement Photography Tips to make your images shine!
I. Include a location or an activity that you love. After all, this is one of the FUN parts of the pre-wedding activities! Have fun and make it personal- selecting a location that has a special significance makes the images even more meaningful.
2. When you’re brainstorming about the look and feel of your wedding, its nice to incorporate elements of your wedding day into your engagement session, to tie it all together (after all, these images work great for Save the Date and as displays at your reception!). Whether that means a certain location, style, color palette, or theme, anything is possible. Be sure to ask your photographer for recommendations, to create the look you have in mind! Location, wardrobe, and time of day are three things you can control, that will make a huge impact on the look and feel of your final images.
3. You and your fiance have been together for awhile now, but this might be your first time together with a professional photographer. Engagement sessions give you a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, and fine-tune your portrait game plan for the Wedding day. There’s nothing better than breaking the ice with a fun engagement session, to get more comfortable with your photographer and ease jitters about wedding day portraits.
This engagement session with Lindsey and Cadyn nailed all three of my top three suggestions, and we had so much fun! When Lindsey mentioned they wanted to do their engagement session at a spot that is sentimental to their family, * and that there was a field, * I couldn’t have been more excited!
Lindsey also included an element for their winter wedding (which isn’t included here, because I don’t want to spoil the surprise if it is used for Save the Dates!), and by the time our session was done, these two sweethearts were falling into their favorite poses easily.
